The terms "101 dump" and "201 dump" refer to specific types of stolen credit card data (dumps) in the context of cybercrime, primarily distinguished by the amount and type of information they contain. This information is illegally obtained, often through skimming devices or hacking databases, and then sold on the black market to create cloned cards.
Key Differences
  • 101 Dumps: Contain the data found on Track 1 of a credit card's magnetic stripe. This typically includes the Primary Account Number (PAN), the cardholder's name, and an expiration date.
  • 201 Dumps: Contain the data found on Track 2 of the magnetic stripe. This includes the PAN, the expiration date, and the Service Code. Track 2 data is sufficient to conduct transactions where the physical card is present (card present fraud).
  • Completeness: A full "dump" often contains both Track 1 and Track 2 data. The "101" and "201" designations often indicate which specific track data is included or the format of the data being sold.
  • 101 Dumps (Track 1 with PIN): This refers to the data found on Track 1 of a credit card's magnetic stripe, which includes the primary account number (PAN), cardholder name, expiration date, and other discretionary data, sometimes bundled with the card's Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  • 201 Dumps (Track 2 with PIN): This refers to the data found on Track 2, which typically contains the PAN, expiration date, and service code, also sometimes bundled with the PIN.

    What is a dump?
At its most simple: A dump is an excavated piece of land where people threw trash. They are not longer legal due to the lack of environmental oversight and protection. A Landfill is a highly engineered excavated pieces of land operated to provide a human health service

    What is information dumping?
Infodumping is supplying a large amount of information at once. The term was first used in 1978 in the Proceedings of the Southeastcon Region 3 Conference 353. Over time, the term was adopted in the context of literature (particularly within science fiction) as well as by the autistic community
